REGULATIONS
The Master classes and Competition in Paris (France), scheduled for April 12-14, 2025, will include masterclasses in piano and composition and/or analysis of works (April 12-13, 2025), as well as the Piano Competition „Images in music” (April 13-14, 2025).
The Courses and the Competition are organized by the Franco-Polish Association Kulturalna Europa (Cultural Europe). The “Images in Music” piano competition (April 13-14, 2025) is open to all students, pupils and professional musicians, or interested amateurs and will take place in Paris, in the same location as the masterclasses.
Participation in the Piano Competition does not require participation in masterclasses in piano or composition. Participation in masterclasses in piano or composition does not require participation in the Piano Competition.
The Piano Competition Jury is made up of exceptional pianists, performers and composers and eminent teachers. In 2025, they will be: Sylvia Filus, Justyna Galant, Benjamin Laurent.
All information regarding the “Pictures in music” piano competition will be available on the website www.imagesenmusique.com and on a dedicated Facebook page.

Applications to participate in the Competition will be accepted until February 28, 2025.
I. Rules for participation in Piano and Composition masterclasses
Program and conditions of participation
Each participant is entitled to 4 individual lessons of 45 minutes with the teacher. All participants have access to open lectures, workshops and possible concerts.
The course fee is 250 euros. At the end of the course, students will participate in the final concert.
Submitting an application is equivalent to paying the registration fee of 50 euros to the account of the Kulturalna Europa association.
In the event of withdrawal from the course, registration fees are non-refundable.
Participants cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
A minor participant is required to come and stay under the supervision of an adult. In exceptional cases, a minor participant may be admitted to the course under the supervision of one of the teachers.
The final deadline for submitting applications is February 28, 2025.
II. Rules for Participation in the Piano Competition
Young pianists can participate in the Piano Competition, which will take place on April 13-14, 2025. Assignment to age groups depends on the year of birth of the participant :
Group I - born in 2015 or later
Group II - born in the years 2012-2014
Group III - born in the years 2009-2011
Group IV - born in the years 2006-2008
Group V - born in 2005 or before
Program of competition participants
Each participant is required to play at least two pieces of pianistic literature. The choice of parts is free; however, the program presented must demonstrate the participant's diverse instrumental qualities. The jury authorizes participants to choose their own compositions, of which the score in 3 copies will be given to the members of the jury.
The program must be played from memory.
Duration of the program :
Group I - up to 8 minutes
Group II - up to 12 minutes
Group III - up to 16 minutes
Group IV - up to 20 minutes
Group V - up to 25 minutes
III. Allocation Rules and Types of Rewards
Prizes I, II and III as well as Honorable Mentions will be awarded in each age group.
A list of winners with the specified awards will be made public. All participants will receive certificates of participation, all winners will receive diplomas of winners, and prize winners will receive diplomas mentioning their prizes.
The jury plans to award special prizes :
for the best interpretation of a work by Frédéric Chopin,
for the best interpretation of a work by Milosz Magin,
for the best interpretation of a work by Sylvia Filus,
for the best interpretation of works popularizing the work of Maria Szymanowska - a prize offered by the Maria Szymanowska Society in the form of a recital at the Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw, for the artistic personality of the “Pictures in Music” Piano Competition.
The jury reserves the right not to award certain prizes, to divide the prizes and places equally, as well as to divide the places and special prizes at its own discretion. The decisions of the jury are final and without appeal.
IV. Applications
The condition for a candidate to be qualified is to submit an application in accordance with the rules of these regulations by February 28, 2025. The application form for participants in the Piano and Composition Master class and the Piano Competition is available on the website www.imageseenmusique.com
The application must include the following documents:
1. completed application form
2. a copy of the document confirming the date of birth
3. a brief biographical note - participant file
4. proof of payment of registration fees
5. a portrait photo with a minimum resolution of 150dpi

Participants who have not reached the age of 18 on the day preceding the start of the Competition must attach to their application a declaration from one of the parents/guardians consenting to participation in the Competition.
In case of cancelation the registrations for the competition fee will not be refunded and the masterclass fee will be refunded up to €200.
